It was a journey that started in the second half of 2019, we went through the pandemic and chose the month of August 2023 to hold this important world event in our country. For me it is a pride and a pleasure to receive friends in my chosen land, Brazil and, in particular, in the beautiful city of Foz do Iguaçu. Welcome everyone.
It is an honor as President of LACES to invite you to the first annual meeting of our association. All of you will be witnessing a historical moment. A moment which every scientific society aims to achieve at some point of their existence. A moment in which all their members join together in their region to discuss scientific issues which affect typically their daily work. During the 3 intense days we are preparing for you, you will be able to gain knowledge and experience from fellow latin-american surgeons who face the typical limitations of our region. We intend for worldwide re-known leader of the field to deliver their insight regarding our everyday challenges.
The program for this meeting has been carefully crafted to represent current LATAM practice and be of use for either low and high volume cardiac surgery centers. It is our intention for each of you to acquire useful data to be applied in our usual practice. For such aim, our scientific committee will elaborate a program based on common clinical scenarios and technical complications.
History will be written in Iguazu Falls in 2023, you need to be a part of it.
On August 24th and 25th of this year we will have a great reunion in the city of Foz do Iguaçu - PR at the 7th SOUTH BRAZILIAN CONGRESS OF CARDIOVASCULAR SURGERY. We will be joined to the 31st CONGRESS OF THE WORLD SOCIETY OF CARDIOVASCULAR & THORACIC SURGEONS and to the 1st CONGRESS OF THE LATIN AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF CARDIAC AND ENDOVASCULAR SURGERY.
The South Brazilian Congress has not been held since October 2013 in Gramado. It has been ten years since we held an event that brought together surgeons from the three states in a fraternal, warm, friendly, and very productive scientific meeting, with the exchange of surgical, technical, and experiential experiences. A family environment, with the presence of students, residents, young graduates, and more experienced colleagues who socialized and shared words and friendship. In 2023, after a time of many difficulties all over the world, we have the opportunity to re-edit this meeting in the beautiful city of Foz do Iguaçu. We invite all colleagues from the three southern states and from all over the country to attend this meeting and, once again, share these moments that make us great, provide updating and continued education in our art, and enhance cardiovascular surgery in our states and in our country.
